This is the third of the three “Bridegroom Matins” services that are offered in the first three evenings of Holy Week, even though they are morning services, as the word Matins signifies. So this is the Matins of Holy Wednesday, but offered on Tuesday evening. Our Lord Jesus Christ is the Bridegroom – the one to whom we are united in this life as the church and for all eternity as the redeemed.
