What We Believe

As we belong to the world-wide communion of Orthodox churches, we share the universal faith of the Orthodox Church as given to us in Scripture and the Ecumenical Councils of Christianity’s formative centuries; and as lived and experienced in our Liturgy and the lives of our people.

We are a parish of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese under the spiritual authority of the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople in Istanbul, Turkey. Our immediate spiritual shepherd is His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios of Boston.

Though our theology is the enduring faith preached and safeguarded by Orthodox tradition, we are also a parish in touch with present world realities. So as you explore the pages of our website devoted to faith matters you will discover, in addition to informative material about the Orthodox faith, much that attempts to show how the Orthodox faith also addresses issues of today and the lives of people in our complex world situation. Click on the drop-down menu for this page to look at various catechetical and theological materials that have been used in adult religious education at Holy Trinity Church.

Metropolitan Sotirios Athanassoulas of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Canada has put together a simple but extensive Catechism of the Orthodox faith. It is appended here as a help to anyone interested in reading a concise summary of Orthodox beliefs and practices. You can download it. Or, you can read it as a very convenient slide show by clicking on the link below.
